At the moment we do have a wide range of artificial plants and artificial trees for "outdoor" use. These items are manufactured with very special and tested raw materials. The items will be asured of a long lifetime and colour retention. Artificial trees with a hardwooden trunk are perfectly suitable to be used outdoors. But ....
Our advice, please note this: To prevent water from reaching the trunk, which could cause the water to freeze in the winter and cause the trunk to crack, we advise you to coat the trunk with a hardening coating (which makes the trunk becomes really watertight) and finished with polyurethane foam. The seasons certainly have an impact on the quality of the products and the natural trunks can certainly rot, if they have not been treated (with clear varnish for instance) well.
